Geocache Description:

This cache is in commemoration of an extinct species.

The year is 2017 and the sidewalks and bikeways of Jefferson City Missouri are beginning to see an increase in use.  Suddenly an unseen creature appears on the horizon...      ten, fifteen, maybe hundreds of them rolling along the Missouri plains.  They reached St. Louis.   Then Jefferson City.  Like nothing seen here before with their bright colored frames and puncture proof tires the Pay - To - Ride bicycles were king of the bikeways.  They were everywhere on busy street corners and in nearly every park.    When suddenly, they disappeared. Within 2 years they came and left.     Where did they come from? Where did they go? I still wonder today.   Although they are now extinct, they were an interesting part of Jefferson City’s bicycle history.

Permission granted for placing caches on park ground.
