The Como hotel is an essential place to visit if you find yourself in the quiet suburb of Como, located in the Sutherland Shire. Como is home to beautiful parks, fields and waters. For those who are unfamiliar with the hotel or the area, the building has an history The Como Hotel is actually one of the oldest buildings in the Sutherland Shire; Though it wasn't always a hotel - and it has been re-built. The hotel was originally a German club while the railway lines were being constructed, and the building itself was constructed in 1878, though it wasn't licensed until 1890. Unfortunately, the hotel burned down in November 1996 - but amazingly, it was re-built 5 years later, keeping the original brickwork and salvaging one burnt door in the restaurant. Thanks to the dedicated people who keep the place running today, this popular hotel is now stronger than ever.
