Geocache Description:

"Wakati wa" is Swahili for rainbow, with the breakdown of the words meaning:
wakati = “time” or “season”
& wa = “spot of color”, “sign”, or “indication”

Meanwhile, a literal translation for rainbow could be "upinde wa mvua" for a "bow of colors from the rain," but these translations show some surface level difference between "mzungu" (white man) translations and learning the language (and it demonstrates much more knowledge than I actually learned or recall!)

This location has been on my radar for my little series of caches on theme of my daughter's "favorite color," and really came to the top of my list after placing MG-B (GC8G4ZG) with mention of our Kenyan safari.

My wife and I have fond memories of our year in East Africa (pre-kids!), including the attached wakati wa from our hosts' village, Ribe [ree:bay], looking out toward Mombasa.

A rainy November afternoon felt like a perfect time to place too, as November is the heart of coastal Kenya's "small” rainy season (with the "big rains" season in April and May). Original container was already "rusty, like many things become in the hot, humid, tropical environments!"

I'm pleased to use this little tribute placement to celebrate my 10th Hide, which actually coincides with my 100th Find today as well! I know, still newbie achievements, and neither container are large enough for a geocoin anyway, but I'm having fun and have some TBs to mark the occasion on the way :-D

Congrats to gw0143 - thanks for celebrating my li'l achievement with me - his log says it all: "figured going for an FTF [in the pouring rain] would be more fun [than relaxing] and watch some TV"

[Leprechaun didn't keep good eye on it since it was rusty rather than gold, and original cache went missing. Replacement is moved up to the leprechaun's lookout post for now.] N gevpxl pyvzo sbe uvz bs ~4sg, ohg tbbq cynpr gb jngpu sbe zhttyrf.
