Murgeshpalya is a quaint locality located on Old Airport Road.
Old AIrport Road is named so becuase you guessed it, it's the road leading to the Old Airport. The Old Airport or HAL Airport as it is more comminly known was Bengaluru's only passenger airport until 2008 when it was replaced by Kempegowda International Airport at Devanahalli. HAL Airport is now mainly used by the Indian Air Force and also for general, businness and VIP travellers. It is located in the heart of the city and there have been many attempts to restart commercial service here. Also close by, is the HAL Museum which is a great place to learn more about HAL, the planes they make and get some great views of planes taking off and landing from the airport right across the road.
Located close to the bridge are a couple of shopping centres and food joints. The Kemp Fort Mall or "Red Fort Mall" is a very prominent landmark of this area as it looks like a large fort. Located right behind the mall is the famous Shiva temple. This temple has the largest statue of Lord Shiva in Bengaluru which stands at 65 feet. The statue can even be viewed from the main road.
