I had an email last week with the "Big Question". The question was "Where is the annual President's New Year's Day hike?" Well.... Since I'm adverse to mountain climbing, I wanted somewhere less strenuous than Hawn and something that was a nice walk in an area that I had't been to in a while. Queeny (Strider) Park has a nice long trail to hike on, so I chose there after a suggestion from someone who also hates to climb mountains. This event is a the meet and greet before the hike and everyone is welcome, whether you plan on hiking or not.
The coordinates I've posted are for the pavillion just a bit of a walk away from the main parking lots at Queeny park. Plan on meeting at 9:00am on New Year's Day. We'll hang around and visit until 9:30am or so and then take a walk around the park. It's been a while since I've been here (other than the training classes), so I'm excited for the chance to take a walk with my friends.
If the weather is close to or below zero, or there is a lot of snow on the ground, then this may be postponed or cancelled. Keep watching the cache page and SLAGA FaceBook page for updates as we get closer to the date.
** If you don't feel like hiking, then come on over to this event for your first smiley of 2020. **
Hope to see a bunch of you there for a nice hike.
