One of the interesting aspects of this trail is the transition from the open fields and quarries to the cedar swamp. In the Spring, the snow and ice often stay on the trail and in the swamps for weeks after it has melted in the open. In the Summer, it can be very cool and refreshing on a hot day. In the Fall it is still shady here when all the leaves are gone and in Winter it is very calm and sheltered on a blustery day.
