Geocache Description:


A simple two stage offset multi, where the final location is just a short walk away. Cache only contains a log, so please BYOP.

Monument Description: Stone wheel cross on square plinth and two-stepped base. The memorial is to the two communities of Murton and New York, on the edge of North Shields but near Shiremoor. The memorial is Grade II listed. The original inscription is somewhat weathered in places and difficult to read, however all the details have now been duplicated on a new Slate Slab that lies just in front of the monument.

Main Inscription reads: PASS NOT THIS STONE IN SORROW BUT IN PRIDE FOR THEY DIED THAT YOU MIGHT LIVE
