Geocache Description:

This cache is the bonus physical cache that can be found after completing the Lord Nelsons Last Walk Adventure Lab. The Adventure Lab will let your tread in Nelson’s footsteps (or fairly close to them) as he made his last walk on land before boarding HMS Victory for his final voyage.

The route is a 2km circular walk including the 5 lab caches, a multi cache (Lab cache continuation) GC92W3Y and finishing with the bonus

The museum has wheelchair access but no dogs (except Assistance dogs). The lab cache route is along pavements and I believe suitable for wheelchairs but some answers may be difficult to see without briefly leaving a chair or having help from a friend. Feedback would be welcome if any areas are found to be difficult by wheelchair users.

Please note the restricted hours that the Adventure lab and the Geocache can be found.
Tuesday - Sunday (Closed on Mondays)
April - Sept. 10.00am - 5.30pm (last entry 5.00pm)
Oct - March 10.00am - 5.00pm (last entry 4.30pm)
CHECK AT MUSEUM FOR ANY CHANGES DUE TO COVID 19

In order to also find the bonus cache it is advised to start at least 2 hours before the museum closing time or earlier if you want to look around the museum or have a cup of tea. Entrance to the museum is free and staff are aware of both the Adventure Lab and the physical Geocache but no interaction with them is necessary.

To solve the location of this cache you will need to gather answers from the questions detailed within the adventure lab game during your walk. Please read the description and route instructions carefully on each stage for the history and route instructions.

Waypoint coordinates for all bonus clues are detailed in this cache.

Click on the link or scan the QR code to open the Adventure lab cache on a mobile device in the adventure lab app.
Lord Nelsons Last Walk Adventure Lab

Once you have completed the Adventure Lab you will be given the coordinates and the formula for a code to open it. The last journal contains a hint with description and elevation to find the cache which will be needed as the GPS reception is not good at GZ and will not help find the cache alone.

When using the Adventure Lab app - The last journal entry does not automatically pop up with the bonus info as it does with the first four waypoints, you are given a congratulations message instead.
To read the bonus information on the last journal entry (and get the instructions to find the cache) you will need to scroll down to journal entries, click on the tab and you can then flick though all 5 completion screens with messages relating to the bonus.
Hopefully this bug will be fixed in future Adventure lab updates.

See Gallery plan in photos for the museum layout.

Parking is available in Museum Road – Please pay at the meter. There is also a free car park in the museum grounds if you intend to walk around all the exhibitions. To use this you must leave your registration number at the reception desk and check the times the gates will be locked.

As the opportunity to leave feedback on the adventure lab app is very limited please feel free to leave more detailed feedback on the whole experience on this cache.

Special thanks to Portsmouth City Museum for permission to place this cache and for bringing the plaque out of archive and mounting it in the museum especially for the Lab Cache. If you visit the museum or cafe while finding the cache please feel free to include it in your log as I will pass comments onto the museum.

Inside the cache you will find a box of souvenir tokens - please take one. If they are running out please let me know so I can top them up.

For those interested in stats this is currently the only large size cache with the D/T rating of 2.5/1 in the UK.
