Saanich Heritage Park is one of Victoria's best kept secrets and one of her brightest jewels.
The park is home to the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society (SHAS) and the Vancouver Island Model Engineers (VIME). SHAS volunteers maintain the 29 acre park beautifully, and to wander through the old town buildings and museum will take you back to Saanich farmings early days. Meanwhile the VIME volunteers are the engineers who build, run and maintain the railway and its ride-on miniature trains. Check the link for the days in Summer when the trains are offering rides.
This cache is ONLY available during the park's open hours, 9 to 1 daily in Winter, 9 to 4 daily in Summer up to the end of September. If there is a special event day on (Father's Day, Harvest weekend in mid-September and a few other occasions which are listed on the web site) there may be a charge at the gate, but the rest of the time the park runs on donations.
The Park management are excited to welcome Geocaching in, and have given permission for the caches we are placing here. Please keep to the trails, explore everywhere and have fun.
