Join us for our first official event of 2020!
Sunday, January 12, 2020, 2:00 pm 'til 4:00pm
for the 18th Anniversary of the
Middle Tennessee Geocachers' Club
(We are of voting age now!)
Eighteen years ago, at this same shelter the Middle Tennessee Geocachers Club was formed and the founding meeting held. We are the second oldest, continually active Geocaching club in the world! We would love for as many of the original charter members to be here as possible. As you navigate to Shelter #8 in Edwin Warner Park don't believe your GPSr if it tries to get you to the Shelter #8 via Hwy 100 -- try Vaughn Road instead.
Everyone please join us, come rain, come shine, or come bone-chilling COLD (the original was about 35 degrees and freezing rain) for this important event. There is no need to be a member of the MTGC to attend one of our events, so whether you have found thousands of caches or you just got a GPSr for Christmas and want to check out the sport, come on out!.
New and returning members, our Treasurer will have the treasury sock, and he will be glad to place your $5 membership fee for the year in it.
Also, as important as it is for us to mark the 18th Anniversary of the founding of the club, we also have a very important duty to perform.
It is time to nominate and elect our officers for 2020, and this cannot be taken lightly. The officers of the club work with the authorities to promote and extend Geocaching in Tennessee, in addition to organizing club events, CITO opportunities and other club activities. Please come and show your support for those working the hardest to help this game we all love move forward in Tennessee.
We will present a slate of candidates at the meeting and will also take nominations from the floor. We will be voting for President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Public Relations. Any member of MTGC can be nominated for an officer position, so if you are interested, or know someone who would be perfect for the job, please contact the current officers.
CURRENT 2019 OFFICERS:
PRESIDENT- Salpal (Sally Davis)
VICE PRESIDENT- Scoot the Frog (Laura Simmons)
TREASURER - Southpaw (Bob Armstrong)
SECRETARY- TexasToast (Tracey Burgess)
PUBLIC RELATIONS - FLY46 (Mandi Lynch)
There is a fireplace in the shelter, so we can build a fire if it gets a little chilly, and the great companionship and fellowship with other cachers should keep us warm and fuzzy, as long as it doesn't get too cold. So dress warmly, and come on out and show your support for Geocaching in Middle Tennessee. We look forward to seeing you there! Bring any new cachers you know! Logs for the fire will be appreciated!
