Geocache Description:

How many geocachers do you think have a castle in Europe with their name on it? I really have no idea if this has any ancestry connection to my family but the idea is interesting. The original castle was built between 1793 and 1796 and for many years was used as a shelter and residence for orphans. It was destroyed in a fire in 1906 and then rebuilt. In 1944 it was heavily damaged in a World War II battle. It has since been rebuilt as a luxury hotel. The castle is located in Leesum, about 45 miles southeast of Amsterdam. If you would choose to visit the area you could see the dikes, canals, windmills, and great flowers that the Netherlands is famous for.

The actual cache is a preform container located in Westfield Park and hidden in a traditional manner. It is not a park and grab but should not take more than a couple of minutes to get. From the parking area it is about a 200 foot walk to the cache location.

Portage parks are open from 8AM to sunset so no night caching is allowed. Because this is a public park, muggles may frequently be present, so extreme stealth is needed.
