CONGRATULATIONS TO DODGIONFAMILY ON FTF.
I was born and raised right here on this corner. In the 1970s and Early Eighties about 20 kids lived in this neighborhood. We all gathered on this sidewalk and sat on the railing (still present). We played games like Tag, and Hide and Seek. We also hid from cars that drove by every hour or so. Now tons of cars drive by, (Muggles and the like.) Around 9 or 10 pm, Porch lights would start flashing. This indicated it was time for the children that belonged in that house, to go home. Right before the 10 oclock NEWS started, The Announcer would ask a Question..
"Its 10 Oclock, Do you know where your children are?" Then at Midnight the national anthem would play, and the brodcasting would go off the air for the night.
Feel free to sit on the rails, close your eyes and count to 100, and imagine 20 children hiding. Its dark and the child that "Was it" had to go looking for the other kids hiding.
So, 'Your It"
When you find another child, the chase is on. You have to tag the child before they reach base, where they are safe. Guess where base is?
You guessed it, the railing on the sidewalk. Once you tag another kid, they are it, and you Yell the words...
"OLLY OLLY OXYEN FREE" Which indicates that all the other kids can come in safe, without fear of loosing the game.
Even back then we had indoor plumbing.............
