Another cache in what is rapidly becoming a National Numbered Series of Letterbox Hybrid caches, placed to mark one of a diminishing number of post boxes placed in Queen Victoria’s reign and still in use for regular collections by Royal Mail.
The self-inking rubber stamp in the cache is NOT a trade item, and must remain in the cache!
A few simple guidelines will apply to the series (subject to amendment):
- The post box must carry the Royal Cipher of Queen Victoria (in whatever format)
- The box must have regular collections by Royal Mail
- The box must be in the British Isles (so United Kingdom and adjoining Crown Dependencies).
- Any style or colour of box are valid as long as the above all apply

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates, where you will find a victorian postbox, but you do need to visit to obtain values for the final coordinates..
The last collection time on a weekday is A.00am
The latest collection in the area is made at B.00pm from Dunstable Delivery Office.
The last collection time on Saturday is C.00am
The postbox number is LU6 DE D
The cache can be found at N51 53. (E) (E-D) (B-D) W000 33. (B÷2) (D) (C+D)
Please leave the stamp in the cache.
If you know of an eligible post box and would like to add to this series, please apply to Team Hippo for a series number, giving the following:
- Location as in place name (and street if applicable)
- Location in Lat Long format (DD MM.MMM)
- Postbox number
Please note that featured post boxes should comply with the guidelines above. Caches should be Letterbox Hybrid type (and therefore contain a LB stamp), whether placed at the published co-ords, or a simple offset multi, or multi-stage multi, or more of a puzzle style format.
