Geocache Description:

A straightforward traditional cache placed on the South West Coast Path overlooking Par Beach, Par Docks and St Austell Bay'

In medieval times, St Austell Bay was known as Tywardreath Bay - the Ordnance Survey people re-named it wrongly in the 19th Century.

From this cache location, it is only a short walk into Polkerris where there is a hostelry and public toilets. You can refresh yourself and grab the numbers for Joesmile's Lifeboat Cache GC4VG28 before strolling back to Par.

This is a popular spot for walkers - please be stealthy

Par Beach is a great place to walk and bring your dog - it is dog-friendly all the year round as long as you clean up after your best friend

The beach and sand dunes behind it were created a few hundred years ago when mining, industrialisation and the creation of Par Harbour caused the incoming creeks and rivers to silt up. The area behind the beach is a Nature Reserve and is cared for by a great group of volunteers - The Friends of Par Beach.

The coast path can be accessed from the car park (coordinates provided as a waypoint) by going over a small bridge and up some slippery steps a few metres behind the pay and display machine.
The footpath along here does get very muddy and there are often large puddles after wet weather so you might want to wear wellies or good walking boots.

!! There are some steep drops alongside some sections of the footpath so please take care of geokids !!

The cache is a micro inside a small click-lock box at the back base of the hint item - please re-hide it carefully.

No need to climb over fences to reach the cache but it might be prickly at some times of the year.
Bring your own pen and tweezers may be needed
