This is the start of the Donghaochong Greenway where it meets Luhu Lake. The water flows down the restored and revitalized canal more than 4km to the Pearl River. (Actually the water from this point is pumped upward from the river in a cycle ensuring it always flows but thereby falling somewhat short of sustainability principles.) It has been beautifully landscaped and is heavily used, especially on weekends. For some reason during the evenings the lighting is switched off so the area is deserted.
This northern section where the greenway meets Luhu Lake is more successful and impressive than the southern section where it feeds into the Pearl River and is often cut off by the roadways and ramps to the elevated expressway.
