Geocache Description:

15 February 2020, 16:00 - 19:30

Saturday, February 15, 2020

4:00PM to 7:30PM

Pizza, games, prizes, and most importantly... geo-friends!

One year after our first "Game Night, Geo Edition", GC81F8Q, we are back in Altoona, PA, to kick off hopefully another fun year of quarterly Game Night events. We are hoping to have The Geo-Family Feud return for a third installment, as well as offering a new Geo-themed game based on Win, Lose, or Draw. The event will be held at the Quality Inn and Suites on Pleasant Valley Blvd, in Altoona, PA. The room available to us is just to your left when entering the main lobby. It should be close to twice the size of the previous location in Ebensburg. Accommodations for travelers may be available. If you wish to call the hotel and inquire, the number is 814-944-9661, and ask if they have any discounts available, as you are attending "*Mt Geo Cashing Game Night" (that is how they wrote it up on the contract form).

Planned schedule:

4:00-4:30 - Meet and greet, final, "at-the-door" game registration; contestants get your name tags (if you have a trackable nametag, you are encouraged to use it)

4:30 - The pizza and drinks will likely be available near the start of the event, so enjoy some food and geo-chatting while we make the final preparations for the game system to be operational.

The Geo-Family Feud Returns! (Games starting between 4:45 and 5:00 pm)

A popular game from the previous Game Night events, The Geo Family Feud will pit one group of the Geocaching Family against the other to see who can think most like a geocacher, based on answers to our poll given to 100+ geocachers from around the planet via various social media groups.

5:45 - Game reset and intermission; if food is still available, get refills for the next game!

Win, Lose, or Draw - Geo-Style! (6:00 pm, or later, depending on Feud)

Two teams will go head-to head drawing and guessing clues based on geocaching related words and themes. As this game is still in development, we will continue to provide updates on the specifics of how the final teams are drawn up, including the possibility of play-ins and early rounds.

6:45 (or conclusion of Draw) - Final Trivia for all in attendance having not yet received any prizes during the earlier games

7:00 pm (or later) - The room is reserved through 7:30 pm and later for clean-up. Stay and chat as you wish. Thanks for coming to the Winter Game Night!

Depending on interest, various pre-game activities (including possible lottery-style drawing) may be used to determine the members of the two teams going in to the Geo-Family Feud. On TV, each team/family normally has five contestants each, although we can stretch the "families" out to slightly larger teams if needed. We welcome both contestants and spectators alike! Come for the event smiley and stay for the fun of the games!

The Game Night series (past, present, future) is collected in one online resource:

Event location: The event will be held in the conference/meeting room of the Quality Inn at 3306 Pleasant Valley Blvd, in Altoona, PA, convenient from either Exit 31 or Exit 32 of I-99/US-220. If traveling from farther away, you may inquire about available rooms at the host site. Food and beverages will be provided by the Two "greens". Donations to help offset the cost of the event are welcome but not required.

Will Attend logs will be greatly appreciated to help us gauge the correct amount of food and drink that may be needed. Thank you!

See you there!
