Geocache Description:


From 1956 to 1962 rock bolting experiments were carried out at this site. Rock bolting techniques developed here were then used for the Snowy Hydro scheme, and are now used all over the world! Rock bolting is required to be used in tunnels bored into mountains, to ensure the stability of the overhead rock! These bolts can be up to 4m long! At this location you can see the holes and some remaining bolts.
