Geocache Description:

Please note - the museum is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10.00am to 3.00pm, with an entry fee of $10. Alternatively, you can enter for free on every second Sunday of the Month, which is market day.

Cooma Railway Station was built in 1888. For most of the life of the line - there was at least one passenger train per day. The overnight "Cooma Mail" was the most well-known. It carried skiers and others seeking mountain adventures. With the commencement of the Snowy Mountains Hydro scheme in the 1950s, the railway experienced a boom. During this period, railway staff based at Cooma increased to more than 100! The last train ran on the 28 May 1989. The station is now a museum with many interesting artefacts from the steam era to be seen!

Take some time to walk along the paths and read all the explanatory signs. Here you will find yourself at the end of the platform - at this location facilities were added much later, to accommodate the new and flashy diesel locomotives!

Please BYO pen.
