The Ventura Harbor Wetlands Ecological Reserve, open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., is a favorite area for local bird watchers offering up-close views of multiple species of birds in a scenic setting with flat, well-defined trails. The VHER series could give it equal standing for geocachers as it offers all that plus a chance to get five different types of geocaching icons in a half-mile counter-clockwise loop. With three nearby Earthcaches, a six-icon day is well within reach.
The geocache is at its posted coordinates.
To post a find, you must sign the log and qualify for the relatively easy challenge of having 9 different ICON types in your Profile. Please use the Challenge Checker to verify that you qualify BEFORE logging a FIND. I will unceremoniously and without explanation delete any FOUND LOGS posted by geocachers who do not qualify.
If you do not currently qualify, I invite you to sign the log, post an online note for now, and log the find when you do qualify.
Other icons that qualify are Virtual, Event, Cache In Trash Out (CITO), Mega-Event, Community Celebration Event, Giga-Event, Geocaching HQ, Project Ape, Webcam, GPS Adventures Exhibit, NGS Benchmarks, and Lab Cache.
The geocache is a 3D-printed pine cone hanging just under six feet high. To get to it, you'll cross about three feet of ice plant.
