Instructions for your Final Practical Exam - Space Cadet Training: 

Two transmissions were received before the air waves went silent 
The first message let Command Center know the ship was going down
The second one came from a crew member just before he expired

"Flight transcripts have been removed from the crash site 
Clues on where to begin your quest are in plain sight
Determine your starting point
Follow the stars between dusk and dawn 
A flashlight - the more powerful, the better - is required
Begin and finish with two vertical stars
Keep your light source at eye level"
