Geocache Description:


Born the son of a salesman and a housewife in Germany near the turn of the 20th century, Einstein is now considered one of the world's greatest minds. It is believed that he wrote this riddle as a boy. You will need the riddle to solve the coordinates. In the riddle there are 5 houses. Each are a different color. The colors are, black, red, natural wood, dark brown, and white. Each house has a man living in it, all different nationalities. They are, German, Swedish, Spanish, British, and American. They each have a pet, they are, a fish, dog, cat, horse, and bird. They each drink a different beverage. They drink, water, soda, tea, coffee, and milk. Each man plays an instrument. They play, violin, piano, drums, saxophone, and trumpet. You will most likely need a paper and pencil to do this riddle. Enjoy!

                                The Riddle  

1. The British man lives in a dark brown house

2. The Swedish man owns a dog

3. The Spanish man drinks tea

4. The red house is on the left of the natural wood house

5. The owner of the red house drinks coffee

6. The person who plays violin owns a bird

7. The owner of the black house plays the saxophone

8. The man living in the center house drinks milk

9. The American lives in the first house

10. The man who plays drums lives next to the one who owns a cat

11. The man who owns a horse lives next to the man who plays saxophone 

12. The man who plays trumpet drinks soda 

13. The German plays the piano

14. The American lives next to the white house 

15. The drum player lives next to the one who drinks water

The Coordinates 

Each color, pet, nationality, beverage, and instrument has a number/ letter. Those are,

Horse- 4

Bird- 3

Cat- 4

Spanish- W

British- 4

American- 0

Water- 4

Milk- 7

Tea- -8

Black house- N

Brown house- 1

White house- 9 

Drums- 8

Saxophone- 2

 

After you have solved the riddle, on a paper, draw a house shape and divide the house into 5 sections horizontally. In the top section write the color of the first house and the corisponding number/letter. In the second section, you should write the pet with the number/letter. In the 3rd section, write the nationality. In the 4th write the beverage. In the 5th, write the instrument. Repeat with the other 4 houses, in order of the houses. 

Once you have done that, you need to go from top section to bottom and write the numbers out. (Coordinate format is, ex. E EE.EEEE N NN.NNNN)

 

(ex. Color is S, pet is 9, nationality is 8, drink is 2 and instrument is 5, it would go, S 98.25, etc.)
