[EN] Around Lithuania - Southern (Smiltyne) Breakwater. Another treasure from caches set "Around Lithuania". Slippery when wet!! Be careful!!

Pietinis (Smiltynės) molas. Puiki vieta tiek praleisti romantiškus vakarus, tiek pasigrožėti vandens purslais, kurie pakyla į orą atsitrenkdami į vandenlaužius audrų metu. Žvejoti griežtai draudžiama!

Šis molas yra vadinamas Pietinis molas. Jo ilgis – 1227 metrai. Jis pastatytas ant polių. Viršvandeninė dalis išmūryta iš akmenų. Pagilinus uostą, molas sustiprintas akmenimis ir dideliais betono blokais.
pietininis molas buvo statomas – nuo 1847 m. iki 1861 m.
Šio molo funkcija – nukreipti Danės upės žiočių srovę į Baltijos jūrą, apsaugoti plaukimo vagą (farvaterį) nuo užteršimo.

Smiltyne Southern Breakwater. A great place for a romantic evening, and admire the water spray that rises into the air impacting the breakwater during storms. Fishing is strictly prohibited!

This is called the Southern breakwater. Its length - 1227 meters. It is built on stilts. Above-water part of the bricked stones. Dredged harbor, pier reinforced with stones and large concrete blocks.
Southern breakwater was under construction - since 1847. until 1861.
This breakwater function - Dane direct current to the river mouth of the Baltic Sea, protected swimming bed (fairway) from contamination.
