Geocache Description:

ADVANCED WARNING (20 May 2026):

We have started to archive many of our caches as the maintenance load is becoming a major concern as our capacity to make regular visits to our caches declines. In May 2025 we gave 12 months notice of archiving our Starting Puzzle Solving series so that the caches would still be active for the Tas Mega held in March 2026 and now, with the Mega behind us, those caches have now been archived. We are now giving 3 months notice that we intend to archive this and a number of other caches about September this year. This advanced warning applies to our Meandering the Mersey caches that are on the Mersey River south of Kimberley, our caches along Pardoe Beach and the two remaining caches on Morelands Beach. That gives anyone who has not found these cache the opportunity to do so prior to them being archived.

Pardoe Beach, Moorland Beach and Northdown Beach together extend eastwards from near the mouth of the Mersey River in Devonport to the mouth if the Rubicon River at Hawley. A walking track winds its way through the dunes along Pardoe Beach whilst you can walk on Moorland and Northdown Beaches, at all times except within an hour of high tide. There is a partial track in the dunes along the eastern end of Moorland Beach. The area has unique coastal vegetation which has adapted to thrive in the windy and salty environment. The vegetation is home to many small animals which are most noticeable as dusk. At low tide, there are many marine animals on the beach. It is a lovely area to walk and observe.

The Pardoe Ramble caches have been placed along The John Palmer Walking Track just behind Pardoe Beach. From the suggested parking spot, it is about 3km one way to the end of the track near Cormorant Point to the east. The track is maintained regularly. Provided the tide is right, you can walk the track one way and along the beach on your return.

Some of the hides are relatively straightforward but others will take some hunting because they are hidden in the dense vegetation. Unless stated otherwise, there should be no reason to leave the track.

The cache is a cammoed PVC tube with a screw top

Enjoy the area.
