Loveable Otis Campbell, played by Hal Smith in The Andy Griffith Show, was a regular weekend customer to the Mayberry County jail. He would comically lock himself up and release himself from his regular jail cell using the key which was stored within reach of the two cells. Also, Otis was deputized on a few occasions. One of our favorite scenes of Otis is when Andy has to tell Otis bed-time stories to get him to sleep.

Fun Fact: In real life Hal Smith did not drink. He was a celebrated voice actor giving life to many characters such as Goofy, Owl from Winnie-the-Pooh, Winnie-the-Pooh, and Mr. Whittaker from the Adventures in Odyssey. (b. August 24, 1916 d. January 28, 1994)
