This cache has been archived.

subwaymark: Sadly, the city removed the historical information on the traffic box. I regretably need to archive :(

Geocache Description:

Salem has been covering some traffic control boxes with some neat information about the neighborhood it is in. It is better than the dull gray! It is a simple one-stage multicache field puzzle. The final is very close to the 1st stage.

The final cache coordinates are: N 44° 55.ABC' W 123° 00.DEF'

You must solve for ABCDEF by reading the information and inserting the correct answers to get the final coordinates. Here we go!

A = What is the final digit of the year Streetcars started in Salem

B = The last digit in number of years that Fred and Arthur served Salemites at the corner gas station (from the photo caption)

C = The postcard showing one streetcar going to the nearby Stet Penitentiary is courtesy of WHC. C = the third number identifying the photo.

D = Today you walk to read this sign, or take a bus or use your phone to summon a car, but in 189D you would ride the streetcar. What is D?

E = The third digit in the year that Art and Fred sold their service station?

F = The last digit in the year of the photo showing Frank George and Margie Preim

I will say I was drawn to this "history box" because of the streetcar image, but it was interesting to learn about the old service too!
