A nord dell’abitato vi era il faro, nell’antica Torre di Peloro, chiamata in seguito, quando riadattata a fortino dagli inglesi che temevano uno sbarco delle truppe napoleoniche, appunto Torre degli Inglesi, conservando la caratteristica forma a fiaccola. Alla fine dell’800, rimasto solo in funzione di fortino, il faro venne sostituito da una lanterna un po’ più a sud che venne poi distrutta dal terremoto del 1908 e quindi riedificata più alta e moderna.
To the north of the town was the lighthouse, in the ancient Peloro Tower, later called, when readapted as a fort by the English who feared a landing of the Napoleonic troops, namely Tower of English , retaining the characteristic torch shape. At the end of the 19th century, which remained only as a fort, the lighthouse was replaced by a lantern a little further south which was then destroyed by the 1908 earthquake and then rebuilt higher and more modern.
