The cache is at the posted coordinates but you’ll need the key (Qi) to open the ammo can and sign the log. See the links below to find a Qi (key).
Be prepared for mosquitoes, rain, mud, roots, rocks... Although it is not a steep incline, it can be a tricky hike. But very worth the effort!
DON’T BE SHY ABOUT CONTACTING OTHERS TO GET THE KEY! We’re big fans on meeting other geocachers and cooperating together to make special memories! Follow the rules below and have fun caching!
-
Find a key, go to the cache and open it.
-
Hand-to-Hand: You may pass the key to somebody heading here and then you can leave a note that you helped someone. If you got the key from someone, please be sure to mention in your log how and who you connected with.
-
Cache at a Distance: You are welcome to post a note on the cache page saying you have a key and are willing to mail it to a geocacher. DON’T BE SHY! THIS IS THE FUN PART OF THIS HIDE! Similarly, local geocachers, or geocachers heading to this area may contact a key holder to ask for the key. Please give lots of Aloha and Mahalo in your log for the one who gave you the key by name. Tell us how you connected with another Geocacher. If you sent the key, you may post a note that you helped with Aloha spirit!
Please keep the keys moving on and off the islands and get them to Qi locations to claim finds!
Use the same keys to open the other caches in this series! Thanks to rmhopper for starting up the first of these unique Qi’s to the Cache and letting us join in the fun. Favorite points appreciated 🌺🏝️
See GC85625 for a complete list of all trackable keys. One key opens all the following caches:
(GC85625) in Davis, CA.
Unfortunately (GC89KDX) and (GC8ACM0) were Archived - but the keys still work for two caches.
If you are in possession of one of these keys, please be willing to send it on to a fellow geocacher who is requesting it.
Congratulations to the FTF bull baiter with his lovely bride KerKer10.
Well stocked - please only take one and trade something good please.
TCBventures (lives here) is maintaining the physical cache. Get_My_Meanin_Stenen is maintaining the cache page and Hawaiian TBs. Rmhopper is maintaining the master list of keys.
Captain James Cook visited the islands on January 18, 1778, and named them the "Sandwich Islands" in honor of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, who was one of his sponsors as the First Lord of the Admiralty. This name was in use until the 1840s, when the local name "Hawaii" gradually began to take precedence.
(Updated 6/8/2021: Due to problems with muggles and the expense of the continual replacement of this cache, we moved this to a location with fewer muggles. The terrain had to be increased to 3.5.)
