2021 Luminaries still light the night, but all 2021 celebration event geocachers must remain in their cars driving through the neighborhood or stop for some snowman soup and hot cider at the bonfire driveway event. This event is a driveway / neighborhood drive through luminaries event for all geocahers who wish to attend...simply drive by in your cars staying COVID safe or stop in for an outside treat and warm drink. As you drive by you can shout out your geocaching name and we will shout some Christmas Cheer for all to hear. You can also consider stopping for an outside chat and treats if your up for some holiday merriment. Cachers may drive through the entire neighborhood that will be well lit with luminaries for all cachers to enjoy. There will be COVID safe drinks and snacks and an optional log book for you to sign this year or you may simply log this cache after attending our celebration event.
The Light of Luminaries:
I heard this story a few years ago when researching the light of luminaries and found it so touching I thought it would be a heat warming tale to share with our fellow Geocaching friends as we journey into another year of holiday celebrations and traditions.
Long ago there was a sweet woman who had been diagnosed with cancer...she was only given a few months to live. One of her favorite things that she loved see at Christmas was luminaries. So, after being told it would be her last Christmas she purchased white bags and candles for all her neighbors and asked them to line their streets with luminaries. On Christmas Eve that year she was able to enjoy seeing her entire street glowing with these beautiful candles throughout the night.
Sadly, she passed away and was not around the following Christmas Eve to see, that in her memory, the entire neighborhood lined their streets with luminaries to keep her spirit of Christmas glowing throughout the night. This Christmas Eve we are hosting our third annual, "Luminaries Light the Night" geocaching event we wish to remind everyone that life is short so enjoy the gift of each day and spend time with those you hold dear.
EVENT INFORMATION:
The luminaries will be lit as night falls. So please drive slow and enjoy the show.
Event Begins: Christmas Eve at 6:30 PM
Who Is Invited: This is a family friendly event. All geocaching cars, people, and pets are welcome to drive or stop by for a holiday visit.
How Do I Get Event Attendance Credit: You can get credit by doing this event as a drive through cache (a quick drive by style cache where you shout your geocaching name as you drive by and then be on your way) or you can stop and sign the log.
What Will I Get If I Attend This Event: Shouts of Christmas Cheer, a beautiful view of our neighborhood luminaries, and some warm coco.
*Anyone who attends this event will also receive a Christmas Eve FTF for attending, and we will be posting a few new caches in the area for cachers to enjoy during their holiday season... after all this is a season of giving.
Event Ends at 11:59 PM; we will wish all visitors a Merry Christmas and the event along with Christmas Eve will be over. Drive by logging will no longer be posted at ground zero after 11:59 PM as we need time to get our little ones to bed before Santa arrives.
