Le Géocaching a été créé le 2 mai 2000 à Portland, dans l'Oregon, par Dave Ulmer.
Pour fêter les 20 ans du Géocaching, Groundspeak a proposé à des joueurs d'organiser des rassemblements sous le thème "Community Celebration Event 2020". Ces rassemblements devaient normalement avoir lieu du 2 mai au 31 décembre 2020 mais, à cause de la COVID-19, la période de publication a été repoussée jusqu'au 31 décembre 2022.

To celebrate 20 years of Geocaching, Groundspeak offered players to organize gatherings under the theme "Community Celebration Event 2020". These gatherings were normally scheduled to take place from May 2 to December 31, 2020 but, due to COVID-19, the publication period has been postponed until December 31, 2022.

12h00: Beginning of the event: exchanges of TB, geocoins and woods, geo-chat, signing the logbook, and trivial pursuit game - geocaching version.

2:00 PM .: Official end of the event, and for those who wish, a digestive walk to search for caches at La Défense!
