O velho e o Mar Traditional Geocache

Cuba, início dos anos 1950. Santiago, um velho pescador, sai para o mar após 84 dias sem pescar um único peixe. Todos os habitantes da ilha afirmam que Santiago está velho de mais e em maré de azar, mas Manolin, o pequeno rapaz, continua a acreditar nele apesar dos comentários depreciativos dos pais.

Ao 85.º dia, Santiago decide partir para o mais longe possível, ao largo do Golfo, em busca do peixe que lhe devolverá o respeito dos habitantes da ilha. É então que encontra um magnífico espadarte, enorme e forte. A luta homérica entre o velho e o peixe predador durará três dias e três noites: no regresso a terra firme, o velho, derrotado, recuperou a dignidade entre os seus pares após uma batalha corajosa.

Cuba, begining of 1950. Santiago, an old fisherman, goes to the sea after 84 days without catching any fish. Everyone from the island says that Santiago is too old and is on a tide of bad luck, but Manolin, the little kid, keeps believing on him in spite of the derogatory comments of his parents.

On the 85th daym Santiago decides to go as far as possible, near Golfo, looking for fish which could bring him back the respect from the people from the island. There, he catches a big swordfish. The fight between him and the fish lasted three days and three nights: when returning back to land, the old fisherman, defeated, recovered his dignity among his colleages after this braveness.
