The Growling Grass Frog (Litoria raniformis) is classified as 'vulnerable' and as such efforts have been made to protect remaining habitat. The Darebin Creek parklands have been established to offer a balance of frog habitat in close proximity to housing development and other parkland ammenities. The Darebin Creek Trail provides opportunity for us to both appreciate nature and the native animals that inhabit the area. This cache is at another quiet listening post where it is hoped that the visitor in Summer months may be able to hear the characteristic call of Litoria raniformis.
The cache is a camouflaged micro 'Eclipse' mint tin with log (BYO pen please). Take time to read the information on Litoria raniformis while you are here... and if you are visiting upon dusk, you may be lucky in hearing the call.
**** Congrats to BernieH - FTF Honours **** (noting that the Blue stamp at the top of the log that Bernie noted was from the CO.... it adds a bit of charm as per Darryl Kerrigan, The Castle)
