Welcome to Kinloch. A popular fishing and camping spot and the starting point for the Routeburn Track. Kinloch is a 26 kilometres drive from Glenorchy. The road is sealed for the 17 kms to the Dart Bridge, and the last 9 kms is unsealed though it is well graded for a normal car or van.
This cache is placed on a unique wooden outpost which depicts the history of Kinloch. The museum outpost is the idea of the Glenorchy Heritage and Museum Group and was put in place in December 2019. The structure was built from timber salvaged from pioneer Bill Grant’s cottage (he ran a nearby mill in the 19th century), and from his daughter Rosie Grant’s cottages, which were taken down in 2019. Thanks to the Glenorchy Book Group, a Lilliput library is also attached to the outpost.
The cache is a nano which has been placed in a manner to avoid attention. Please ensure it is returned to the same spot.
