Geocache Description:

"Living by the sea means a seagull stealing my ice cream on a hot, sunny day!"

Hastings is famous for the largest beach launched fishing fleet in the country and the area around Hastings Contemporary is rich in heritage.

This cache was created by Janey Moffatt working with children from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School and co facilitator Anna Atkinson.

The children enjoyed the local fishing beach near Hastings Contemporary as their source of inspiration and enjoyed visits exploring it, collecting found objects and leaving decorated stones for strangers to find among the shingle.  They learned about a wide variety of work made by other artists, with a particular focus on how we can make art using our environment.

The motivation for this cache came from the tiny paper log book scrolls that are often found in small Geocaches.  The children used a variety of printing processes to create the work, including Cyanotype, heat transfer, rust printing and lino cut.
