Chelmarsh Parish Hall was built in 1937 as a memorial to Mr John Buston of Astbury Hall, a local businessman. It was originally a simple rectangular wooden building, with very basic facilities, and it has been suggested that it came as a flat-pack kit! Over the years it has been extended and improved to become the modern Hall you see today. In the past it was also the canteen and gym for the nearby village school, and today it is the venue for many village organisations and events.
