While attempting to visit this cacher (and failing, as I often do), it occurred to me that this would be the perfect place to hide one of the 40 new nanos I just bought (yes, you read that right...be afraid). Hopefully, the Cacher of Honor is able to get it. Some information about him; credit to his July 2019 Geocachers of Long Island spotlight for making this an easy write-up for me. If I recall correctly, I believe he was our first honoree:
1. What does your cacher name mean?
My name is Steve Rogers - also I go by Captain America, or Mr. Rogers, my caching name is Dog and Bear. My name matches myself perfectly and shows how real I am.
2. When did you start caching and how did you find out about it?
My good friend Bruce (mrblh) first introduced me to this game.
3. Describe your first find.
It all started in the town of Lake George on Thursday July 15, 2004. The name of the cache was Easy View – Revisited (GCGR4H).

B. Pick one favorite Cache that you’ve found?
One of my memorable finds was my one hundredth find - American Cemetery in the Philippines. I spent several hours here reading the many walls of history and seeing how many people perished during this conflict. This place is very special and it moved me to tears. Can you spot the traditional log book for this cache. GC6CFA?

B. Pick one favorite cache that you’ve hidden.
My favorite type of “hide” is when I create an event, and get to sit back and watch everyone laughing and having a good time; it gives me a warm feeling and I know it is a success. Last year, I went on a cacher’s road trip in Kentucky - I had 292 cachers and their families attend. The count was over 500 people I was told by several people; the line went out the door. They thought the Pope was in town. I just laugh. I must say that I greeted everyone that night and shook so many hands - it felt like a thousand hands or more.

10. Do you have any geocaching goals? My main goal was 10,000 finds. That was done last year at the Giga Event in Ohio.
11. Do you cache with anyone? Brian (Unwinder1) at present time. I have cached with hundreds of other cachers over the years.
12. Memorable caching story: Everyone will have great stories; there are so many that are favorites, from caches, to my events and other events. So many to just pick one.
13. Bucket list cache? To cache in Australia
14. Besides geocaching, what else should we know about you?
I have a saying I use in almost all of my logs, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The Way of Lao-tzu Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC). So it is that, “The journey to a single cache can take you a thousand steps or more.” The Way of Dog and Bear - just a Cacher From New York (1957 to Present)
15. What do you want GoLI to work on?
(1) To bring and have Mega events on Long Island, and (2) to encourage geo-art to be made on Long Island and (3) To further make Long Island a place for all geocachers to come and play and have fun as a big family of great friends.
