It's Pi Day again, and that means food :) This round (haha!), a new place: Great Harvest Bread - Warrenton.
Being Pi Day, we'll talk pies as well as other sweet and savory baked goods that might or might not be pies (hamantaschen? British-style pasties? tamales?), unit circles, traffic circles, getting turned aROUND, and how to find our way aROUND while caching. Pi- and pie-themed garb and math jokes are welcome but not at all required.
Order food/drinks if you like, or not, but please don't bring outside food/drinks into this tiny local establishment. Because of its small space, RSVPs are appreciated: if a lot of folks plan to come, I'll give them a heads-up.
I'm not sure GH sells pie, per se, at any of their locations but they do have baked goods (breads, cookies, etc.), which are quite related: food that's very doughy and often round ;) This location also has sandwiches and drinks - and seating, which the GHs near my house do not - as I discovered when I happened upon this branch in late 2019 while caching and shopping in Warrenton. They were very enthusiastic that day when I asked if we could meet there sometime, and again when I checked with the manager for this specific day and time, so we'll give it a try. They offered to get food ready for us in advance( :) ! ) but I said I didn't think that was necessary.
As noted below, PLEASE check this page before making the drive if the weather or roads seem at all iffy. Unlikely but possible.
LOCATION:

GLM pointed out the proximity to a gift shop called Latitudes. That was unintentional but does indeed fit with a geocaching event :)
ACCESSIBILITY:
Street parking. Not sure how handicapped-accessible it is. Slight incline outside. There's a curb cut directly in front of the entrance plus there's a ramp at the door, but the door ramp is kind of stepped on the sides (I tripped on it at my first visit), so a regular-width wheelchair is probably workable but watch your wheels. Not sure about a wider one or a scooter. Strollers should have no problems.
There are bus stops on the map nearby but they seem to belong to a local/regional loop service of some sort and I'm not sure there's weekend service. Not sure if that service connects to anything outside the area. VA Transit (bus) Closest stops are labeled "maroon" and "black".
WEATHER WARNING:
Mid-March is pretty late in the season, but we do sometimes have snow in March (see link: NoVA historic snowstorms) so here's the CAVEAT: if the weather is really bad that morning, or if it's really bad the day/night before and things are still frozen/icy the morning of the event, there's a good chance that I won't be able to get to the event from where I live - about 45 minutes away under good conditions. Bad weather would also mean a nonzero chance that the hosting location may open late or be closed. If either happens, I might have to cancel it. So PLEASE check this cache page for updates before heading over there if there's any chance of a bad-weather issue.
On the other hand, if we get one of those freakily warm days we may end up in shorts. Who knows. It's NoVA.
