Questa cache vi porterà a conoscere i resti della vecchia chiesa di San Pietro a Balconevisi, frazione di San Miniato. 

This cache will show you the ruins of the old church of Saint Peter in Balconevisi, a hamlet of San Miniato.

La chiesa di San Pietro e San Iacopo a Balconevisi fu costruita nel 1520 per sostituire una chiesa preesistente e venne usata fino a circa il 1900, quando venne consacrata la nuova chiesa a poca distanza. Della chiesa cinquecentesca, a navata unica, rimangono i muri perimetrali, il pavimento a conci di pietra, l'altare maggiore e le tracce di antichi affreschi, staccati per essere trasferiti nel museo diocesano, oltre ad un'acquasantiera. A poca distanza dai ruderi si trova il campanile neogotico del 1888, tuttora in uso. L'entrata della chiesa è chiusa da un cancello.

La cache è un contenitore in plastica contenente il solo logbook, nascosta nel muro esterno della chiesa. Portatevi da scrivere. Buona ricerca!

The church of St. Peter and St. James in Balconevisi was built in 1520 to replace an existing church and was used until around 1900, when the new church was consecrated a short distance away. Of the sixteenth-century church, single-naved, we can still admire the perimeter walls, the floor with stone ashlars, the main altar and the traces of ancient frescoes, detached to be transferred to the Diocese museum, as well as a stoup. Not far from the ruins there is the neo-Gothic bell tower from 1888, still in use. The entrance to the church is closed by a gate.
