Geocache Description:

Discover Yuma!

Yes! Eli Whitney’s invention processes cotton from fields around sunny Yuma. Cotton moves through dryers first, then cleaning equipment removes dirt and other foreign matter. The cotton is air-conveyed to gin stands where revolving circular saws pull the lint through closely spaced ribs that filter out the seeds. Blasts of air and brushes remove lint from the saw teeth. The cotton is baled, quality-tested, and stored in warehouses until sold. The seeds are crushed for oil and meal used in food products and livestock feed. Now you know!
