The Waldtrudering's Treasure Island Series is built around the book Treasure Island written in 1881 by Robert Louis Stevenson. The story is set in the mid 1700's beginning along the coast of England and then in the seaport of Bristol. The book takes its' reader quickly to the high seas and finally to a remote and secret island. It is the story of sailing ships and pirates. The character Jim Hawkins, the Squire Trelawney and the Doctor decide to go search for the treasure of the evil Captain Flint. The pirate Long John Silver is part of the crew to man the schooner when it sets sail from Bristol. It is his desire to steal the treasure from Jim and his friends. Treasure Island is a book with greed as a minor theme but the main theme is Jim Hawkins' quest to bring home something of great value and gain his own moral adulthood which is a treasure in itself. For ten years I have walked the paths through this forest. It is like an island but is surrounded by buildings and roads rather than water. it is a special place where I daydream and find the treasures hidden in my thoughts.
