Geocache Description:

Nestled in the Montgomeryshire Hills, at almost 1,000 feet above sea level, the village of Llangurig lies on the River Wye.

The A470 trunk road, National Cycle Route 81 and the Wye Valley Walk all pass through the village.

The village dates to AD 500 when St Curig, a converted warrior, arrived from Aberystwyth and built a monastery on the banks of the river Wye. This is how Llangurig - church of Curig - got its name.

Near the village green there is a water fountain which once supplied clean water for all. The stone cup that was once attached to a chain has long since disappeared, but the horse trough remains. A quotation from the Bible is inscribed under the arch of the fountain, 'He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.'

The cache can be found at the heart of the village in the proximity of the old water fountain.

The A470 can be very busy, and the cache is right beside the road, so please take care on the pavement, and keep a close eye on any younger geocachers.
