Geocache Description:

"Koropuku Falls - A Kiwi Bush Experience"

Located on the Chaslands Highway in the Catlins, this truely is something amazing...

The experience begins from the moment you enter the bush, with the stream crossings to the Ponga log track (our national Silver Fern trunk) , and onto the 11m high waterfall itself.

Wayne Allen and Peter Hill, two retirees and lifelong mates created the track in their spare time over 15 years. With the approval from the Department of Conservation, the pair transformed the overgrown forest into a 40 minute return, single lane rugged trail.

You won't find the track on an official Catlins tourist map, but you will now find it on the geocaching map (the only one that matters).

I have added a parking waypoint as you can easily miss the sign at the small parking area.

It is recommended to have sturdy and waterproof shoes, due to climbing over wet rocks.

Please add a photo to your log, as your Bush Experience will encourage others to visit this forgotten cousin of the McLean and Purakaunui Falls.
