Geocache Description:

With the Orchard Park housing estate commencing in 1939, it was proposed by the Church of Scotland to establish a presence in the area. A minister was put in place in April 1940. Originally, the congregation met in the Giffnock Courthouse, which is unimaginable now. The congregation continued to worship there for two years. In 1942, the congregation moved to their own Church Halls which are to the rear of the white building in front of you.

The church's second minister joined the parish in 1945 and during the following 10 years oversaw the expansion of the Church Halls to their current size, to the left of the white building in front of you. In the 1960s, the decision was taken to expand the church with the construction of the white building. This was supported by funds from the closing of the Park church, North of the Clyde and the merging of the Park and Orchard Park congregations here. The new building becoming known as The Park Church. A slightly unusual merging of congregations, as they were not exactly neighbours.

The Park Church is very active in the community, hosting a nursery and holiday clubs as well as a well-attended nativity at Christmas.
