This is an easy two part multi. Please respect the park hours which are dawn to dusk.
Over a hundred years ago, the creek and meadow you see before you were a natural drainage system that slowed and filtered water along its course. In the 1800s the land was converted to orchards and pasture. As the area developed, much of the surface water was controlled by piping it underground directly into Boeing Creek southeast of the park. This by-passed the natural functions of the wetland. The Hillwood Creek wetland has been replanted so that it slows, holds and filters runoff while providing a habitat of native plants for wildlife.
