Geocache Description:

Way back in 1986 a large family of 10 moved to Mango Road from Weipa, Cape York, upon purchasing the 155 acre block that would become the family home for many years, and continues to be, they learned that the previous owner had purchased land in the area from an older relative with the view to develop a Mango Plantation Farm. The prospective Mango farmer was not in fact a farmer but a business man from a City in South Queensland. His mango farming venture did not last long once he realised what was involved with developing and maintaining a Mango plantation in an area such as this with climate issues including drought, frost, insect infestation, wildlife threat and dry hot winds. it is believed he soon ditched the idea and divided the acreage into smaller blocks, sold them off and relocated back to the city. In present day there are still no Mango Plantations on Mango Road, however Mango Road has developed into several small farms ranging from 50 to 180 acres that are used for residential living and small hobby farms It is a good place to raise the kids and is out of town enough to enjoy the space and peace and quiet but yet close enough to town to drive in for supplies, services and social interaction if needed. Cache is a quick find close to the road, the road is graded dirt but easy to access in a 2WD when not wet. The road corners can be dangerous with speed. Parking is easily available off the edge of the road nearby cache, but safely away from the corner. Cache is log only, BYO pen. To access flip open the lid.
