Geocache Description:

Hey West Virginia Geocachers!

Welcome to one of America's Outstanding Beauty Spots, as rated by National Geographic Magazine! (It definitely deserves this rating, right?)

This is the Panorama Overlook (as I grew up knowing it as), but it is also known as Prospect Overlook. From this view point you can see Maryland and West Virginia- and if you look far enough, you can even see Pennsylvania! From this amazing viewpoint you are able to see the Potomac and Cacapon rivers and the C&O Canal (on the Maryland side) and the B&O Railroad (on the West Virginia side)!

The Prospect Overlook marks the end of the Cacapon Mountain which runs more than 30 miles south from that point to the Virginia border. From the overlook itself, it delves nearly 1000 feet into the Potomac River.

If you're really up for another scenic challenge, you can visit Cacapon State Park to access the 12-mile fire road and flat hiking trail along the crest of the Cacapon Mountain that takes you to Prospect Rock. With the history of Berkeley Springs, it's not hard to imagine that George Washington often rode here (which he did!). I urge you to take a second to put your phone down, and just enjoy the view. Take in the moment, including anyone you may be caching with, and just enjoy this experience for what it is. We are often too distracted to fully get lost in the beauty of the world surrounding us, and this is one of those views that deserve full immersion.

To find the cache itself, you won't have to cross the guardrail, so please don't plummet down to the Potomac River!

An adventure lab cache will also be made public with the release of this cache, so please enjoy it as well!
