Geocache Description:

A little bit of Sawtell history ending with a small walk to GZ

The cache here is a small plastic box that will require a small Phillips head screwdriver to open the cache. It is not screwed to anything the screw driver is to get the cache apart once u have it in hand and on the table

the cache only has a log and although its big enough for some swaps and a travel bug or two please do not drop them off in this one, no pen is supplied so byo the scribble stick and the stealthy moves because even with the walls you will still need to watch for eyes watching you. There is also glue tack holding the cache to its position please try to get it back where it is as the wind might blow it off

The wayward point is in the middle of the street it will require you to walk it all to retrieve the infomation to work out the co ords. Theres a bit of Sawtell history involving a bit of reading and observing the surrounds for clues. All the answers are in the middle of the street with plenty of seating under the massive old Fig Trees for shade as you go to work on  the co ords without being bothered by muggles.

ABOUT THIS AREA

Its near impossible to think the local council was going to cut down 😢 these anchient trees 🌳 at one point, what a grave mistake that would have been, thank goodness public opinion changed that crazy 🤪 idea. Sure their roots make havock of the ground and the branches might break and fall, but its the fig trees that give this place its ambiance as any local or visitor who takes the time to sit and enjoy would agree. Hopefully this multi will do exactly that.

There are many nieche shops and cafes that line both sides of this Avenue that help compliment the Majestic Sawtell cinema that actually closed before reopening in a most unique way. ( The cinema is a history lesson in its own right ). Other major shops in this 190 mtre strech of area are banks,  an RSL club, post office , pub , just to mention a few, but its the 100 odd year old fig trees that give this place its charactor by far. At night this place has a completely different look about it , a some what romantic ❤️ Place, with its orange lights and its atmosphere of people out enjoying the company of others.

This area im sure is going to be a favourite one for you as it is for many who visit First Avenue Sawtell 😀
