Geocache Description:

Drain M is an artificially contructed drain where the primary function is to remove surface water and draining saline groundwater to improve agricultural productivity and accessibility in the region (Department for Water 2010). It is a large drain in the lower South East with a catchment area of almost 4000 square kilometres. More recently the lower South East drainage system is also being managed to enhance natural wetlands and protect a vunerable species of fish.

In winter areas like where the road crosses the drain are popular places for local photographer to come with their cameras to capture the fast flowing water over the concrete weirs that cross the drain.
