About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
About Belmont Station
Belmont train station opened 12 September 1932, as the sole intermediate station between Harrow & Wealdstone and the old Stanmore station on the London, Midland and Scottish Railway.
It was rebuilt less than five years later, but the line faced heavy competition from the Metropolitan Railway which could take passengers from Stanmore to Central London without needing to change at Harrow & Wealdstone.
On 15 September 1952, the line changed to a shuttle service between Belmont and Harrow & Wealdstone, and services ended completely 6 July 1964 following the recommendations in the Beeching cuts. The station site has since been converted into a car park, and the line is now a long park, which is supported by the Friends of Belmont Nature Trail.
About the CITO
We're going to meet next to the car park to conduct a litter pick. We will have a few litter pickers avaliable, so if attendees have their own (and their own gloves too), then please do bring them along. We'll have bin bags supplied by Harrow Council, and at the end of the CITO we'll leave the bags of rubbish next to the bins in the car park.
And of course, this is the very first day of the first CITO season of 2020, so as long as you haven't been to another one that morning, you'll get a new souvenir just for attending!
