"The stars at night are big and bright …” Given that opening, almost anyone in Texas knows what comes next: energetic, rhythmic clapping and the hearty chorus “… deep in the heart of Texas!” In The Lone Star State, these lines from a famous folk song are heard everywhere. From school assemblies to rock concerts, it is a traditional way to get the attention of and engage the audience.
My husband and I are originally from Texas and two of the main things we miss about it are the food and the southern warmth (and I'm not talking about the weather). This cache is placed outside a BBQ restaurant that was started by another Texan and we come here often to enjoy a great meal that reminds us of home. It is also one of the only places in PNW where you can buy Blue Bell ice cream, a southern favorite.
