Geocaching is free. Of course we all know that.
However to get the most out of the game people will usually need to spend a little money here and there.
One of the expenditure lines is for Tools of The Trade aka TOTTs.
There are many of these ranging from things which help you to solve puzzles, project coordinates, or to access a GZ or a cache at a GZ. Some caches can not be accessed without a specific TOTT. And sometimes this requirement is reflected in either or both of the D and T ratings.
This series contains caches which you will probably find easier with one or more TOTTs. Whether it is working out the final location or accessing the cache once there, there will be something where a TOTT will help. But part of the fun is that we won't necessarily tell you in advance which TOTT you might need. Of course this may not be a problem for the experienced cacher. But for newer ones some of these might open new windows of opportunities.
This is #02 in the series. It is a multi-cache.
Multi-caches have an inherent issue with the D and T ratings. Are the ratings related to the most difficult waypoint? Or perhaps just to the final? Or are they a combination of them all?
Of course the D and T ratings may help give the searcher ideas too about where to look. This may be a little more complex with a multi-cache.
Both D and T ratings may be affected by need to use TOTTs. The Geocaching hiding guidelines suggest that the use of some TOTTs will result in an appropriate rating of as high as T5. And so the potential use of a TOTT may complicate the cacher's search if he/she is basing it in part on the T rating.
And of course all the issues of complexity available to a Traditional cache are available here too - extra fake containers, camouflage, misdirection, etc.
